Good to know in Miami

  • Transit: Miami's free Metromover covers Brickell and downtown; use the Metrobus ($2.25/ride) or SunPass Metrorail ($2.25) to reach Miami Beach via the Airport-Flats corridor, avoid rideshares for short hops.
  • Tipping: 18-20% is the firm local norm at sit-down restaurants; even counter-service spots in tourist zones will show a tip prompt, 10-15% is fine there.
  • Tap water: Miami's tap water is safe and tested, carry a reusable bottle and skip expensive single-use plastic bottles everywhere.
  • Free-entry days: Vizcaya Museum is free the second Saturday of each month; the Pérez Art Museum Miami (PAMM) offers free admission every first Thursday evening and second Saturday of the month.
