Varadero

Varadero is Cuba's premier beach resort peninsula, boasting 20 km of powdery white sand and turquoise Caribbean waters at a fraction of Caribbean island prices. All-inclusive resorts and peso-priced local eateries make it one of the best-value sun-and-sea destinations in the hemisphere.

Family-friendly

Good to know in Varadero

  • Transit: Horse-drawn taxis (coches) cost $1-2 CUP equivalent for short hops in town; the Varadero Bus Tour hop-on-hop-off covers the whole peninsula for about $5/day-the best way to get around without a rental car.
  • Tipping: Tip hotel staff, guides, and restaurant servers $1-2 USD per service; Cuba's dual economy means tips in USD or euros are enormously appreciated and expected at tourist venues.
  • Tap water: Do NOT drink tap water in Varadero-buy bottled water ($0.50-1 at local shops) or use resort filtered water stations; all-inclusive guests should stick to resort-provided water.
  • Free entry days: Josone Park grounds are free to enter any day; Varadero Beach itself is always free and publicly accessible despite resort frontage-simply walk past hotel property to the sand.
