Good to know in Bogota

  • Use TransMilenio BRT buses and SITP feeder buses for nearly all city transit, a single fare costs about $0.70 loaded onto a Tullave card bought at any station.
  • Tipping is not mandatory but rounding up or leaving 10% at sit-down restaurants is appreciated; many bills include a voluntary 10% service charge you can legally decline.
  • Do not drink tap water in Bogota, stick to bottled or filtered water which is widely available for under $0.50 at corner tiendas.
  • The Gold Museum and Botero Museum offer free admission on Sundays, and many other state museums waive entry the first Sunday of the month.
